The relations with Bishop Stopford’s School and Carl-Theodor-Schule go back to 1985 when OStR Chr. Spital founded the exchange, following a work experience at this school in North-London.

Since then hundreds of students have had the privilege of visiting an English family and being host on their side when the English exchange students come over every year.

In the early years we usually went to England in spring time and the English students paid their visit to us in July when we usually have our “joint venture” in a youth hostel in the Black Forest for three days.

This year students of class 11 received English students in the beginning of July and went over to GB in October.

Our visit to London vice versa took place from Thursday 24 September – Monday 5 October 2009. This visit included participation in school life, a day at a computer centre, going on study visits to the centre of London (St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Greenwich), a boat ride on the river Thames and a visit to the twin town of Heidelberg, Cambridge which included a guided tour around the colleges.

The students returned last Monday, October 5 full of nice memories and meetings with another culture and society. On Wednesday, Oct. 7 the participating students gave little speeches in their English lessons about their study leave in London in front of their class mates.

This exchange has been running for 24 years under the continuous leadership of OStR Spital, M.A. Not very often seen in schools nowadays..
